About

Meet Miss Hugo

A specialist literacy teacher and mum who helps reading and writing feel doable, warm and fun for families.

Our founder’s story

Miss Hugo has always loved words. She finished school in the top 1% in her final-year English and History exams, then studied at two leading Melbourne universities before becoming a primary school teacher.

She went on to complete two years of specialist training in supporting children who struggle with reading and writing, and has since worked as a specialist intervention teacher, helping children who needed extra support to catch up with confidence.

She’s also a mum. Miss Hugo taught her older son to read before he started school and is now doing the same with her younger one. The games on the Learn to read at home page are the ones she plays with her own kids: short, playful and made from things you already have at home.
